An Explicit Finite Element Method for Thermal Simulations of Buildings with Phase Change Materials

چکیده
The thermal performance of building envelopes is essential for comfort and the reduction energy requirements. Phase change materials (PCMs) implemented in can improve performance. An explicit finite element method (ex-FEM) has been developed based on a previous study to investigate heat transfer through walls with installed PCMs. For verification, we introduce an electrical circuit analogy (ECA) method. model validation, at first, COMSOL used. comparison, data were collected from experiments using small hotbox, part sides are covered by PCMs different configurations. This work shows how ex-FEM predict wall’s temperature profile without incorporated PCM. With implementation PCMs, problematizes unpredictable influences modeling. In addition, introduces results simulations sequencing PCM layers wall construction.

متن کاملThe Finite Element Method for Porous Materials
To reduce the noise and vibration perturbations, it is beneficial to use the dissipative properties of poroelastic materials. These materials are generally not used alone, but rather inserted in composite mechanical assemblies made of elastic structures, poroelastic materials and air insertions. If these structures are assemblies of layers of materials, they are called multilayer complexes. If ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Gasoline Engine Piston with Various Coating Materials Using Finite Element Method
The purpose of this paper is to examine the piston stress distribution using several thicknesses of the coating materials to achieve higher gasoline engine performance. First of all, finite element structure analysis is used to uncoated petrol piston made of aluminum alloy. Then, steel and cast iron piston materials are conducted and compared with the aluminum piston. After that, investigation ...
متن کاملAn adaptive local-global multiscale finite volume element method for two-phase flow simulations
Multiscale solution methods are currently under active investigation for the simulation of subsurface flow in heterogeneous formations. These procedures capture the effects of fine scale permeability variations through the calculation of specialized coarse scale basis functions. Most of the multiscale techniques presented to date employ localization approximations in the calculation of these ba...
متن کاملBack-calculation of mechanical parameters of shell and balls materials from discrete element method simulations
Discrete Element Method (DEM) is extensively used for mathematical modeling and simulating the behavior of discrete discs and discrete spheres in two and three dimensional space, respectively. Prediction of particles flow regime, power draw and kinetic energy for a laboratory or an industrial mill is possible by DEM simulation. In this article, a new approach was used to assess the main paramet...
